I was having breakfast with a good friend of mine and our discussion was on various different youth ministry topics. We then got on the topic of several different youth students from different churches and we ended up talking about one particular student and how I knew her. I explained to my friend that I knew the student through her parents. Then my friend asked me how I got to know the student’s parents so then I explained that during the time that I was rededicating my life to God, her father had spent some time with me in doing one-on-one discipleship.

Here’s what my friend did for me (intentionally or not).

He managed to show me how God’s hand works in people’s lives. Here this girl’s dad invested the time to do discipleship with me and nuture my faith. I am now indirectly helping to be a Christ-like example / role model to his daughter. The sowing and planting of God’s Word that her dad has done with me is now being reaped by his own daughter (and other students in youth groups).

Amazing – we have an awesome God!
